The DSP Method — The Framework for Mental Clarity | Standing In Your Power Series

What if most of what’s stealing your peace… never actually happened?

In this episode of Happy, Healthy, Whole, and Rich, Tina Brinkley Potts introduces the DSP Method — a three-layer framework for separating Data, Story, and Projection in real time. Drawing from a recent personal experience and years of using this tool with coaching clients, Tina walks you through exactly how our minds collapse facts into meaning and meaning into fear… and how to find your way back to truth.

If you’ve ever caught yourself spiraling over something before you even knew all the facts, this episode is your reset button.

If the DSP Method hit home for you today, share this episode with someone who needs to hear it. And if you’re ready to build the kind of clarity that lets you stand firm no matter what’s swirling around you, visit HappyHealthyWholeRich.com to connect and go deeper.

Welcome to Happy, Healthy, Whole, and Rich, where faith meets

Speaker:

action and transformation is non-negotiable. I'm

Speaker:

Tina Brinkley Potts, and I believe now is the time to

Speaker:

step boldly into your power, walk in divine

Speaker:

wisdom, and claim the life you were meant to live.

Speaker:

Each episode, I'll bring you real, unfiltered

Speaker:

truth because this world needs leaders who

Speaker:

refuse to shrink. Let's get it.

Speaker:

Welcome back to Happy, Healthy, Whole, and Rich. I'm

Speaker:

Tina Brinkley Potts, and I know who I play for.

Speaker:

We're in the middle of our Standing in Your Power series,

Speaker:

and today I want to give you something practical,

Speaker:

something you can use in real time, the moment your

Speaker:

mind starts spinning out. Because here's

Speaker:

what I know about standing in your power. It

Speaker:

doesn't mean nothing ever shakes you.

Speaker:

It means you have a way back. It means you don't

Speaker:

stay in the spin. Today I'm introducing

Speaker:

you to something I've been using in my own life and

Speaker:

with my coaching clients for years, and I'm finally

Speaker:

giving it a name. It's called the DSP Method.

Speaker:

DSP. Data,

Speaker:

Story, Projection. And by the time this

Speaker:

episode is over, you're going to hear your own thinking

Speaker:

in a completely different way. I

Speaker:

want to start in John 8:32. And you shall

Speaker:

know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Speaker:

Now, most of us have heard that scripture. We've put it

Speaker:

on mugs, posted it on our walls, quoted it in hard

Speaker:

moments. But I want you to sit with the first part

Speaker:

today. You shall know the truth,

Speaker:

not feel the truth, not assume the truth,

Speaker:

not project the truth, but know it.

Speaker:

Because so much of what steals our peace, what pulls us

Speaker:

out of our power, isn't reality. It's

Speaker:

the meaning we attach to reality. It's the

Speaker:

story we build around what happened before we

Speaker:

even stop to check what actually happened.

Speaker:

The truth sets you free, but you have to find it first.

Speaker:

That's what the DSP Method is designed to do—

Speaker:

help you locate the truth so it can do its

Speaker:

work. Let me tell you what happened to me

Speaker:

last week. I picked up my phone,

Speaker:

opened WhatsApp, and I was locked out. A

Speaker:

message on the screen telling me my account had been flagged

Speaker:

for violating terms of service. Now,

Speaker:

I want you to understand something. WhatsApp is not

Speaker:

casual for me. I manage a reggae and dancehall

Speaker:

artist. I communicate with people around the world,

Speaker:

team members, contacts, collaborators across time

Speaker:

zones. It's a working tool. So when I saw

Speaker:

that screen, my mind moved fast. Within

Speaker:

seconds, and I mean seconds, I was already in

Speaker:

a full narrative. Here we go again. This is

Speaker:

just like Facebook. I can't catch a break with

Speaker:

Meta. I detest everything about that company.

Speaker:

And it built from there. The Facebook ad account ban

Speaker:

I've been dealing with, every frustration I ever had

Speaker:

with that platform pulling the rug. I was

Speaker:

already writing the ending to a story that hadn't even started

Speaker:

yet. It took me about 5 minutes to work

Speaker:

myself out of it. 5 minutes.

Speaker:

Before I could slow down enough to ask a simple question:

Speaker:

what do I actually know? And here's what I knew,

Speaker:

what was true, what was the data.

Speaker:

I was locked out of WhatsApp. That's it. That's all that

Speaker:

happened. I wasn't doing anything outside of normal

Speaker:

use. I was communicating with people around the world on

Speaker:

behalf of an artist I manage. Nothing

Speaker:

unusual, nothing that should have triggered a violation.

Speaker:

So I appealed it calmly, clearly, and

Speaker:

moved on with my morning. But those 5

Speaker:

minutes, that spiral, that was all story

Speaker:

and projection sitting on top of a data point.

Speaker:

And I caught it because I have a tool.

Speaker:

When Jesus said, You shall know the truth. I

Speaker:

believe he was also speaking to this, to the way

Speaker:

we add layers onto what's real until we can no

Speaker:

longer find the floor. We take one locked account

Speaker:

and build a courtroom case against an entire company.

Speaker:

We take one unanswered text and build a whole story

Speaker:

about how someone feels about us.

Speaker:

We take one slow month in business and decide it's

Speaker:

evidence of something permanent. That is not truth.

Speaker:

That is the very convincing story dressed as truth.

Speaker:

And the reason it's so convincing is because it pulls from

Speaker:

real experience, real pain, real history.

Speaker:

Our stories have always a seed of

Speaker:

something true in them. Which is exactly what

Speaker:

makes them so hard to question. But standing

Speaker:

in your power requires that you learn to

Speaker:

locate the floor, find the facts, and

Speaker:

refuse to build your next move on the foundation

Speaker:

that was never solid. Ernest Holmes,

Speaker:

the founder of Science of the Mind, taught that we do

Speaker:

not experience life as it is, We

Speaker:

experience life as we are, meaning

Speaker:

the lens you're looking through shapes what you see

Speaker:

just as much as what's actually in front of you.

Speaker:

That's not poetry, that's metaphysical law.

Speaker:

When I was locked out of WhatsApp and went immediately into my

Speaker:

Meta story, I wasn't responding to what happened.

Speaker:

I was responding to the lens I was already holding up.

Speaker:

The lens that says that platform can't be trusted.

Speaker:

The lens that said this is a pattern. The lens

Speaker:

that grounds by every previous frustration

Speaker:

I carried without fully putting down.

Speaker:

Holmes also said that the law of mind is always working.

Speaker:

It's never not working. It doesn't pause while you

Speaker:

decide what to believe. It just keeps

Speaker:

building in the direction of your dominant thought.

Speaker:

So here's the danger: when you collapse

Speaker:

data into story and story into projection

Speaker:

without questioning any of it, you are not just

Speaker:

processing an experience, you are programming

Speaker:

your next one. You are feeding the law

Speaker:

of mind a blueprint made of fear, and the

Speaker:

law has no choice but to start building.

Speaker:

Neville Goddard put it this way: change your

Speaker:

conception of yourself and you will automatically change

Speaker:

the world in which you live. Your conception of

Speaker:

yourself includes what you believe is happening

Speaker:

to you. What you believe keeps happening

Speaker:

To you. What you believe is about to

Speaker:

happen to you. That's why separating

Speaker:

data from story isn't just a mental health

Speaker:

practice, it is a spiritual one. It is an

Speaker:

act of stewardship over the creative power you've

Speaker:

been given. Florence Scovel Shinn said,

Speaker:

every great work, every big accomplishment, has

Speaker:

been brought into manifestation through holding to the

Speaker:

vision. You cannot hold a vision

Speaker:

and a fearful projection at the same time. One

Speaker:

will crowd out the other, and whichever one you feed

Speaker:

with your attention, that's the one that grows.

Speaker:

The DSP method is how you stop feeding the wrong

Speaker:

one. So let me break this down for you.

Speaker:

The DSP method has 3 layers, and the work is

Speaker:

learning to separate them. D is for data.

Speaker:

Data is what actually happened, full stop. No

Speaker:

interpretation, no backstory, no feelings

Speaker:

attached. I was kicked out of WhatsApp. That's

Speaker:

data. It is concrete. It is verifiable.

Speaker:

If 10 people looked at my phone, they would all see the same thing.

Speaker:

Data doesn't require anyone to agree with your interpretation

Speaker:

because it has no interpretation. It just is.

Speaker:

S is for story. Story is what you decide the

Speaker:

data means. Here we go again with Meta.

Speaker:

They're out to get creators. This always happens to me.

Speaker:

Story is personal. Story has history in it.

Speaker:

Story pulls from everything you've experienced before and

Speaker:

layers it onto what's happening now. Now, I'm

Speaker:

not saying your story is always wrong.

Speaker:

Sometimes it's insight. Sometimes your

Speaker:

pattern recognition is dead on. But

Speaker:

here's what you have to know about story: it is

Speaker:

constructed. You built it. Which means it can be

Speaker:

examined and it can be wrong. P is

Speaker:

projection. Projection is what you decide

Speaker:

happens next. I'm about to lose this

Speaker:

platform. I'm going to have to rebuild everything.

Speaker:

This is going to derail my work. Projection

Speaker:

lives in the future. It hasn't happened. It may

Speaker:

never happen. But when we're in a spiral,

Speaker:

projection feels like prophecy. It feels

Speaker:

like we're being smart, being strategic, preparing

Speaker:

ourselves. Most of the time, we're just

Speaker:

suffering in advance.

Speaker:

Here's the thing about all 3 layers. Data is the only

Speaker:

one that's real right now. Story and projection

Speaker:

are constructs. Useful sometimes, but

Speaker:

dangerous when you mistake them for fact.

Speaker:

So the next time you feel your mind spinning, I want you

Speaker:

to stop and ask 3 questions. What do I know?

Speaker:

That's the data. What does my mind say it

Speaker:

means? That's your story. What am

Speaker:

I afraid is going to happen? That's your projection.

Speaker:

Separate them. Look at them as 3

Speaker:

different things, and then make your

Speaker:

decision from the data. That's where your power is.

Speaker:

Not in the story. Definitely not in the projection.

Speaker:

In the truth. So take a breath. Get

Speaker:

still for a moment. Think about something

Speaker:

that's bothering you right now. It could be a

Speaker:

relationship, a business situation, a decision you're

Speaker:

sitting on with something that happened last week.

Speaker:

Now let's run the DSP method on it. First,

Speaker:

what are the facts? Not what you felt, not

Speaker:

what you think it means— what literally happened, what

Speaker:

you can see, confirm, and verify.

Speaker:

Write that down separately. Strip out everything that

Speaker:

isn't concrete. Second, what

Speaker:

story have you built around it? Where did that story

Speaker:

come from? Is it rooted in something that happened

Speaker:

before? Is this situation actually new,

Speaker:

or are you reacting to something old? Be honest with

Speaker:

yourself. Third, what are you

Speaker:

projecting into the future? What are you afraid is

Speaker:

going to happen? Is this evidence that points to that

Speaker:

outcome, or are you borrowing pain from a

Speaker:

future that doesn't exist yet? Now sit

with this:

how much of your current stress is data,

with this:

and how much of it is story and projection?

with this:

And finally, if you operated only from the data

with this:

right now, What would your next move actually be?

with this:

Not the move driven by fear, not the move driven

with this:

by a story from 5 years ago, the

with this:

move that responds to what's actually true today.

with this:

That's where your power is. That's where the clarity lives,

with this:

right there in the data. So

with this:

here's what I want you to carry Out with you today.

with this:

Your mind is powerful, extraordinarily powerful,

with this:

and that same power can build vision

with this:

and dream big and create from nothing. It can

with this:

also spin out on a single data point

with this:

and turn it into a 5-alarm fire. The DSP

with this:

method doesn't stop the spin from starting.

with this:

What it does is give you a way to catch it, to

with this:

pause, to ask, is this data,

with this:

story, or projection? Because once you can see the

with this:

difference, you can choose, and choice is

with this:

power. The truth shall make you free,

with this:

but you have to be willing to find out, even when the

with this:

story feels more comfortable, even when the

with this:

projection Feels like wisdom. Standing

with this:

in your power means you operate from what's real.

with this:

You respond to what actually happened, and you

with this:

refuse to give your peace away to something

with this:

that exists only in your own mind. You have

with this:

the tool now. Use it. As always,

with this:

in all ways, I know who I play for.

with this:

Until the next time, be happy,

with this:

be healthy, be whole, and most importantly,

with this:

be rich in love, rich in peace, and rich in

with this:

purpose. If this message spoke to you,
